key coding
the key is from the car, but it had the ecu 'repaired' (that's another story) and now pats is coming up with ecu id mismatch, and therefore needs recoding. I don't know/care how it's done, but i'm led to believe ids will do this?
ids is the ford way to do it which will work
you can recode the keys yourself, but you need to have a key that works first apparently
there is a sequence to turn the ignition on and off etc to recode it but it varies from car to car, i know my mondeo needed it doing but the fiesta was easy enough to sort

So, as for urgency, not at all! Lol
Dojj, thanks for your help, but it's the ecu that's lost the code, therefore non of the keys are registering.

dojj it went off to the ecu repair after the coil pack went and took the ecu with it, came back, plug it in and it ran perfectly but had no speedo or mileage display (i've since suspected the vss) so it went back. Upon it's return, it has an immobliser problem (dash pats code 2-3 ecu id mismatch), I've sent it back again and it's somewhere in royal mail's system, I'm hoping it ain't lost!
I'm pretty sure therefore that it's lost it's ecu coding mate.
