Old type imprezas had pull clutches... Not heard off a pull slave though I'm not sure how that would work.

As above, just because it has a pull clutch, doesnt mean the slave pulls.

Although for some reason I have it in my head some Porsche stuff might.

But normally all slave's or hydraulics only push

Cheers for the replies!
After much searching its "pull type clutches" not cylinders, there are certain r33 skyline parts listed as pull type clutch cylinders, however this is the way the clutch operates, not the cylinder.

Minirotty - Thats what I have gone for, the only reason I was looking else where was because the website I saw the willwood one on had the dimensions all wrong and it sounded way to big for the application.

You can also use Master and push like this on Jon Williams/Nathan Steels Fiesta, I believe CrazyCage made it?

I was using a push type after being inspired by Karlos's conversion thread. Got it all plumbed up and working yesterday morning, well chuffed. However, being the numpty I am I neglected to realise that most the people who have done the hydraulic conversion on an ERST are running efi!

Started putting the car back together to discover the metering unit sits about an inch in front of the clutch arm right where my new bracket and slave cylinder are!

So pull type it is.

no mate , most people just fit the focus rs box and its hydraulic anyway.

i done a kit for stu colins when he was still running the ib5 box and snapping clutch cables for fun lol.
he said it only needed a small tweek to fit his rs2k gearbox but you would have to ask him to be sure .

shouldn't it be fitted the other way around to make bleeding easier?

Yep, my bad, The slave works conventionally, but, the release bearing actually pulls the clutch "fingers"!!!

Weird and completely french!!

Cheers for the pics. I never though about running the cylinder through the clutch cable hole. Looks smart.

Ok so got my wilwood pull slave fitted and working. However, I have a question. Will using a larger master cylinder give me more travel on the slave?

I'm only getting around 20mm travel on the clutch arm. IIRC it travelled about 30mm when using the cable.

Yes a larger bore master will give more travel at the slave.

or you could just alter the pivot points somewhere to give you more travel at the master ( assuming there is some left )

Or alter where the slave acts so the 20mm may be enough.

Cheers.

It may work as i've not got the car back together yet to start and test it, I just wanted to know if that was an option.
