Default xr4i info please...

Hi all i have recently brought an xr4i, it is an rs500 replica which was used as a track car and i am currently trying to turn it back into a friendly family car again (not that my mrs is happy with the idea) a couple of questions....

1. where the hell do the bottom bolts for either side rear seat belt go??? i cant see a mounting point atall???

2. i am debating switching to carbs rather than the the usless mfi, what do i need, as far as im aware... the inlet from a mk 2 granada and a weber 38 carb, anything else???

3. Or is it going to be a cheap enough option to convert it to turbo as i am a great lover of turbo'd cars and have run a few rst's in my time amongst evo's, silvia's, focus st 225 etc. if so what bits would i need to make up the kit, as the kit isnt available which turbo etc... i have seen kits about but im reluctant as theyre all second hand and dont seem complete...

I am looking to use it as an everyday car with the long term goal of drifting it so reliability is key really, but i do love a turbo!! unfortunatley rst's put me off in a big way as they are soooooo unreliable!!!

Thanks for your help in advance guys!!!

Can't help with the engine questions but the rear seat belt mounts are the same on the XR4i as any other Sierra. Flip the rear seats and they should be obvious but your car may still have sticky covers on them - look for circles about 5cm diameter or short strips of what looks like loom-tape.
There are some pics in this thread that might help.

The seat belt mounts are captive i think, they will be there. and as for the engine, a 24v cosworth lump from a granada is a straight swap. THEE most reliable engine ford made im certain. The earlier BOA is the one to have imo, bought mine with 30k on it years ago and put it in a p100, its been thrashed pretty well as after all, whats that sort of car built for? its done 150,000miles ish now, its had a cam chain and tensioner and been serviced every 5 or so thousand miles it makes 200ish bhp with a nice exhaust system and a chip. It has never put a foot wrong, the car has deteriorated around it. cant recommend one enough. plenty of others have done it, if you decide to do that and need any help this forum is a good place to be.
expect around 28mpg though :/

Thanks, i had debated a BOA or BOB but wasnt sure if i wanted to go down that route but it's definately something im thinking about if one comes up at the right price. As for the mpg im used to alot worse so that will be a bonus to me!!!

Saw a complete 2.8i turbo kit from turbo technics on the bay the other day.
Also, janspeed and may made kits, only the turbo technics one was an intercooled kit, about 200 horss from a 2.8 mfi engine, and very drivable, just a bolt in kit.

I got one in the built, but im using the turbo technics manifold and crosspipe and hoses and such, but im using a cossie intercooler and modded radiator for the space, but, i discarded the mfi, and i have a 2.8 efi inlet, and use the 2.9 turbo technics twin turbo extra injectors and retarder module, mated with a 2.9 efi loom, ecu and sensors and such. Just preparing for a proper ecu, and i wanted a few horses more than 200, i cant flow more fuel than 285 horse, turbo is almost at its limits, so, i keep on the safe side!

If you buy a 2.8 turbo kit, make sure you have the retarded ignition, and the fuel profiling block fitted on the mfi measuring head
