To be honest if people are willing to pay £60k+ these days for an RS500, someone will pay big money for a well sorted 3dr if there are nutters out there who will spunk silly money on an RS500. That does look very very nice however I wouldn't pay that.

Looks bloody luvly to me !
and he is not doing any harm to any body that owns a cosworth by trying to get them recognised as being worth more than they tend to fetch,
Any body that has ever owned one will know how they suck money out of your pocket quicker than you can count it
Then take into account the amount of dedication love and time needed to get them that nice and keep them that way
Dont get me wrong i dont think he will sell it but i can see where he is coming from in trying

Totally agree with you... But if I couldn't even get 18k for mine in the end then he's paying to advertise for fun IMO.

Lol I was told today that this car changed hands a while ago for 12.5k, thats a fair markup.
Good luck to him and the RS500 bloke, clearly they love their cars very much to put such a high value on them, I can only hope that someone else does, but then again since they "don't care if they sell" i cant help wandering why it's on every forum and classified site on the internet....

People that say that kind of rubbish are usually full of shit, just like the grey 3 door for sale with the extra spoilers for £65k that the owner apparently turned down £62.5k, at that value would you haggle over such a small margin? It's still for sale so there can't be many people waiting to bite his hand off like everyone said before.
It's good cars like these don't sell, it proves the market doesn't warrant the price.

that would have been me lol , i did all the work on this car , it is indeed the best 3 door shell i have seen to date , it took me nearly a year of adverts to get £14250 for it and that is big money for a 3door , people trying to get 20k for them i think will have problems ,
this guy has a monumental uphill struggle ahead @ 50k , but im sure he knows that ,
he will i feel be waiting for some ned in a track suit who has just cashed his lotto ticket or somebody of similar intilect with too much money

I think the best guide for what an rs500 is really worth was the black 1 in the police auction,15k miles and went for almost 40k,making this worth 20 on a really good day.must be the 1st cossie for a long time that's not worth more in bits!

The highest bidder was an aussie guy who hardly used ebay hence his low feedback, he wanted to deal direct and did supply evidence he had a significant budget, but as he was nowhere near the asking price at the time I just told him make your best and final via ebay and I will see how it goes. He would also have had to pay another 35% or so in import duties to get it down under so was at his max as a result. The underbidder was also very keen, I believe he has since bought another 500 instead
It did though give me a feel for the market in this current economic climate so I revised down my expectations to 65K a month or so after, before it went away again for the winter.
All academic now as the car is back slumbering, and when she comes out of hibernation next year it will take an offer in excess of 75k yet again for me to part with it, as I love the car and am very proud to own it, but like everything it has a price, and thats mine.
Plenty of cheaper ones out there for you though.

I think you'd regret selling it anyway,it's pretty unique and can only go up in value really, just I don't think it will be selling at that price anytime soon purely cos of the difficulty in people getting finance etc.
Not saying folk haven't got that sort of cash lying about but my guess is generally it would take some form of refinancing for most folk to
afford it.

Can't believe some of the cheek in some of those offers! If they ain't serious, why waste your time? Although TBH 61.5k is respectable.

I just cannot understand why people waste their time doing that. It was set to automatically decline anything under the asking price, so I didnt even have to review them.
I am the first to admit there were some very good decent offers made, and most people will think I was nuts not to accept, but then again try finding another equal example. The only other moonstone I would want if I sold this one has had an unsolicited offer of 70k turned down on it by the owner, it does though have sub 10k miles on it.

whats the highest ever an rs500 has sold for ?

The only harm that people are doing by asking high prices for cars is the fact the 5 or so minutes I wasted reading this thread from people who haven't got £50k to spend on a car lol...
Fair play to the owners I say as they are attempting to get the prices up.... People always say " it's only worth what someone will pay ". If there's 10 3drs for sale and they are all £50k you either pay it or buy something else...
