Cheap civic type r-would you buy?
After a new car for work and saw a cheap civic type r on a 02 for £1600. It's done 109k not got a lot of info on it would you travel for a hour to view it or not? Seems abit cheap to me,looks ok in the pics but like I said just seems abit cheap. Would the Milage put you off also or will it have plenty of life left in it? Thanks

Seems too cheap for me. It might possibly have been ragged a lot and they have clocked it? Or it could be genuine on the other hand but either way I would be wary of it

I thought it must be a scam but.. If it's the one on pistonheads (assume it is) then looking at the state of the pics it's been painted by stevie wonder with a sponge.
It might look cheap, but unless it's for a track car and you want to paint it matte or something it's not going to be a cheap car. A £3k one might look dear in comparisson but you could spend £3k making it as nice and it wouldn't be original.
It's hard to tell from such small pics but just look at the rear quarters and the bumper. It's probably been written off and repaired by an absolute numpty.

If the mechanics are fine and you want it for a track car or something then why not, but it looks in poor condition and £1600 is a lot of money compared to a nice £3k one if you want to make it nice.

I travel up and down the country so just thought with it being cheap might be fun to use. Not overly fussed for it being mint but don't want it unreliable. Think it will of been ragged to death though

that does look a poor one with some tacky bits on it so would guess it has fallen into bad hands.
These CTR's are designed to be driven hard but have to be maintained to avoid issues. I would say give it a miss.

Found the advert. I have a horrible feeling it's a friends old car. If it is there's something a miss as he sold it after crashing it in the snow about 2 years ago. Will bell him this evening.

Ah civics fucking hell where do I start, make sure you check all electrics, the door regulators die, the heating controls cop out. Try look underneath the car, lower arms, drop links and ball joints. Anytime I’ve had one about me it’s always been a nightmare getting it restored. Check the gearbox as well see if its been raked.

ive seen a few at 2k and under but they are usually on the register.
I am sure it will be like all cars. You can drive some that have done 40k and drive shit and others that have done 100k and drive like new.
End of the day its worth an hours drive to see what its like. You would alway get your money back breaking it if it wa that shit.
Or if the engine does let go my mates got a mint engine for sale lol and only wants 700.
