Default GT3040r (gt3082) on a cossie - opinions please

Has anyone ever used the gt3082 or gt3040r (same thing) on there cossie before?

If so what are they like? are they laggy at all or a good responsive unit?

Possibly looking at 1 for my 4x4 fiesta, would it suit my engine spec?

2ltr yb 8.2:1 comp ratio
10 long studs
lightened balanced polished & knife edged crank shaft
shot peened rods
cosworth racing pistons with valve cut outs
big wing sump etc
wrc breather
4x4 head, fully ported and polished
high torque cams (dont know spec as FMS own items)
2wd manifold with tial 44m external wastegate
hart inlet
seimens 83lb injectors

Would this be a good set up? it's a track only car so will be hard use and needs to be responsive and punchy out the corners, obviously the turbo choice will make or break it, going to speak with Tommy at fms tomorrow but missed them tonight by time id finished so wanted other peoples opinions who had maybe used 1 before?

Thanks
Marc

My engine is all brand new and rebuilt awaiting turbo then dyno etc so should be ok to chuck a chunk of boost through but im not wanting to max it out boost wise just to get it to drive nice, id rather by something else turbo wise

It made 550bhp at 2.4 bar and if you want to it'll make 600bhp a 2.7 bar
But it is really good low down too it makes 422bhp at 1.5 bar and makes 5psi at 2600 rpm.

if its a 71 trim compressor and .82 exhaust housing it is imo the perfect turbo for you spec and needs..

If the cams are right then 480/480+ is possible

cheers danny

Think the 3071 would be good road car but not constant hard track use, 3076 would be better surely

Any ideas about the gt3040r though? If I find one I'd go gt3076r but the gt3040r has come up so wondered what that would be like

The 3040 is basicly 3082 hotside with a 35r cold so you get close to 3082 threshold with a little more flow from the bigger compressor. Some people have issues with the 35r(.82) being a bit of surge monster so putting smaller hotside on it might drive you further into surge.
If you can get the boost in safely it'll probably be knocking on 400(fly) on 1 bar ish and heading toward 480 on 1.5
