Default RST value

this is not a for sale thread (i am a gold member) i am trying to make decision on what to do.
right i bought an RST a couple of months back, bought it as a bit of a project to keep in the gerage work on over winter and maybe take to a few shows next year it is as follows

1988 radiant red
full 90 spec
paintwork is truly excellent, couple of cracks in the spoiler but no visible rust on the car, its had a fairly recent respray and its a good job
engine is good, needs abit of tidying as i am fussy, couple of little things, coolant fan switch has been cut, temp sensor doesnt seem to work.
car comes with only a little history. is HPI clear but without history cant verify the mileage, clocks state 80k.
MOT till may 2013

now i have just sunk every penny i have into my new bathroom and am totally broke for 3 weeks. should i sell the above or hang on to it. as they tend to only go up in value now. i'm not using it, but as my focus RS is in use daily i very rarely get time to tinker with it

what would you do, tempted to to hang on as wont find another nice one in a hurry, but also tempted to have a saff or escos in the garage in future?

option 3 is my friend is selling his MG ZS cheap and i could buy that for a daily and keep the FRS for weekends?

i think you kinda missed the point there

i want to know what people think it might be realistically worth?

they seem to go from 800 right up to 6000 for the best cars...so wondering whether mine would sit in the middle at 3k or be worth much less

prices are all over the place with these cars, if you bought it for a good price I would hang onto it and finish it off that way getting max for it when its time to sell, if you sell now you could lose out and as it coming to end of show season its wrong time to sell unless its tip top

that's what i was thinking put some hours into making it nice over the coming months, just tidying and fixing little issues without spending loads should make a tidy profit for next year

just have a short attention span and the new flat seems to be sucking me dry.

might take some flyers to ford fair and have a look around the cars for sale.

For me I doubt the s2 will ever hit the heights of the s1,3dr or escos as there's just too many of them about plus they never really made a "special" version of it to make it super rare etc.
I certainly wouldn't keep it for that reason alone,as a car I love them but not an investment, that gav123t had a minty mint one and I remember it being on sale here for about 4 months constantly getting the price dropped yet everyone saying how stunning it was.
An s1 in that condition and price?
Doubt it would be there a week.
I look back and think of all the decent cars I sold and broke quite often kicking myself that I didn't keep them but I needed the cash at the time and that was that.
There's always seems to be another one coming up for sale that you think "I wish I could get that and put it away" but in all honesty it's hard to have something like that either
A) sitting in the garage on a sunny day
B) basically £2-3000 sitting there and you need it
C) the cars condition just deteriorating etc.

Get rid, enjoy the cash, enjoy your frs and come back to a project in the future when you've got spare time and cash to sort it.

i dont need the cash.....but i have considered it. the condition will not deteriorate in the garage

owning the FRS and driving the RST makes me question why i will keep the RSt in the garage, the focus does everythinh better and part of me is looking at other 'sunny day' cars to have in there instead of the escort.
