Default HELP REQUIRED PLEASE

can anyone tell me wwhich way the thermostat should go in?? and also i had the head skimmed and a new gasket on a couple of weeks ago but the temprature guage keeps getting to three quarters, sometimes it will stay on half for a short time. if i do 80 or 90 on the m-way it will drop down to a quarterbut as soon as i drop the speed down to about 50 - 60 it soon gets back up. i have checked the header tank its not pressurising and its not loosing water could there be a fault elsewhere??? thanks for any suggestions.

I had something similar on my last saph. The temp never went above half until I replaced the headgasket etc. I wouldnt worry about it, ive sold mine on to a mate and he has had no problems with it since. This was over 12 months ago now aswell and he uses it every day. From memory the longest part of the stat goes in towards the block.

think you defo got an air lock in rad.

empty rad again, and if you can blast a hose pipe in the hole.

then refill on flat surface

should be able to feel face of rad as car warms up, will be able to feel cold spots if blocked, try jacking front of car right up as warms up, this will help expell air locks, obviously open the bleed screw if have one also dont hink stat cover will go on if its wrong way round mate
