Subaru spec c or ra-r anyone had one?
As above has anyone owned one of these and your views on them?
Ive sold a few sti ppp cars but didnt really feel anything special to use but have been told the spec c or ra-r models are totally diffrent in drive and handling and from what ive read up on them it sounds like they are.
But has anyone on here first hand knowledge and what are the like say compared to an evo 8 mr?

Yeah i had a 55 Plate Spec -c buddy, probably the BEST out the box car i've owned, manic chassis and woth a map tweak and a few more mods you'll see 360-370bhp and believe, they're a HOOT at that.
The RA-R is even better, but command more money as alittle bit rarer..

Ive always fancied an older Ra or sti type R version 4 or 5 , But scared of getting burnt with all the engine horror story's you hear... Such a shame as after going in a version 5 some years ago its given me the taste for one...

PassionFord Post Whore!!
i would love a hawkeye ra-r or spec c.
the RA-R's seam to be going up in price now as the pound is fucked against the yen so they cost nearly double the price of what the used to cost in japan,
Decent if you managed to get one before it crashed tho.
If money is no object then go for the latest s206 challenge car as below

yeah prices are mental over there. But prices seam to still vary alot.
hadnt had a look for a while on the jap sites and prices are mad,Some version 6 sti's are 2k or just over in japan but also go up to 5k for them,
Have a look on tradecarview.com prices are crazy for 2002 models onwards.
Ireland is probably best place to look
very nice one on here spec c limited edition

I have a wide track jdm sti, from my05 onwards not much difference between spec c and jdm sti. Just sti has a bit more refinement for daily use, superb car to drive. Grip is amazing and the twinscroll has a very linear power delivery. I had a uk car before and the jdm is better.

What's the uk car like compared to the Jdm?ive heard the torque is better obviously if it's the 2.5 but obv not as strong.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
A good Spec C is a mighty machine - find one with the lux pack gives you aircon, elec windows, c/locking.
Have had most quick versions of Evo/Impreza/cossie and the Spec C with some upgrades was superb and the one I would go back to and keep ( even compared to my Type 25 and Evo 9 GT / 3 door Cosworth).
Nothing like a normal Sti to drive. Bullet proof engine and drive train.
Standard 2004 Spec was only 280 bhp but it's easy to have a safe 340/350 and Grt rid of the horrible JDM suspension and put some AST with White line anti roll bars and you have a car that is as quick as anything on A/B roads.
Bit noisy on motorway trips, horrible to drive if you are tired or hungover.
But mine would do 26 mpg at 70-80 in 6th.
Dccd, quick rack and LSD all help make it special to thrash.
Also had an s202 which was an early special ed' spec C bug eye which had the rare Sti tuned suspension which didn't come with the blob eye Spec C but did on the Hawkeye (expensive) Spec C.
The AST and adjustable anti roll bars felt similar to the S202 a bit more compliant for our bumpy roads.
