think about it though, he's not actually lowered the car at all, its only the top of the damper poking through, the spring is still sat underneath the bodywork. also meaning its not as unsafe as it looks as the only loading on the bolts is the resistance of the shock absorber. the worst case scenario is the castor and camber goes all over the place.
still fooking retarted though

he is running coilovers, so that spacer plate thing he's made has made the car lower!

How?
The properties of the spring and the position of the spring platform determine the ride height - thus the only way to go lower is reducing the size or rate of the spring or lowering the spring platform.
You achieve neither by extending the effective length of the damper body, or allowing it to poke out the top more.
Tom
EDIT: unless you go 6R4 stylee and raise you actual spring top mounts of course!

As above he hasnt lowered the car with that mod, just put more pre-load on the shock absorber!
Dangerous as fook, the consequences could be lethal and probably for another vehicle and its passengers
It would lower the car because thay have let the shock poke threw to its max travel and then compressed the spring with all that shite thay have bolted, bogged on top. The shocks will never work as thay should now and would be so shit to drive. Wot a plank

Wrong - unless they compressed the spring MORE than the weight of the car does as it sits on its wheels it won't make it any lower.
Poking the strut out by 2" (compressing the spring a further 2" from how the shock and spring combo would normally sit off the car ie under no additional load, but under some compression) probably helped keep a very short spring held in place for an MOT when the wheels are off the floor!
