Has anyone got an idea what a mk4 Escort Bonus would weigh in for, without an engine/gearbox? Not looking to weigh one in, but may be able to buy one, just wanted to find out what it'd go for, as thats whats roughly being asked for it.

 

Ł150 roughly

 

You don't even get Ł150 for a complete mondeo at the mo in Birmingham. It's at Ł140 a tonne here. You'd prob get about 70 quid.

 

Scrap price at the minute is rubbish up here (and it's getting worse) it's about Ł110-Ł120 a tonne so your escort shell will be nowhere near a tonne with engine and box removed as already said you'll be lucky to get 70 quid for it so really your needing to get it for free really to make it worth your while taking it away.

 

Two yards i use pay Ł80 quid a ton and Ł120 a ton. The one who's less on cars is better on heavy steel though lol. Lucky if you get Ł100 i'd say

I got 200 for an old civic the other day a maye got 200 for a corsa

 

So if I offer bout Ł60 I should be bout right? Not going to try and get it for free, its from a friend, and its a basis for a project,

 

its not getting worse, its being restored to the values it should be.

scrap has been overinflated in price for a few years.

Hopefully when the global demand for steel stabilises a bit, the scrap values will come down to a sensible level. Just need chinas economy to slow down a bit which it will as they are artificially keeping it busy at the moment, but they cant do that indefinitely.

then we can reduce all the illegal scrap men out there theiving metal off everyone and everything.
