got taken to a mobile mot station last night
got pulled by the police last night for no reason ,
there reason for pulling me was they thought my car looked a bit low and wanted to run it through the mobile mot station that had been set up in a near by industrial estate,
so into the estate i go and join a queue of cars 6 or 7 ,boras,306s,golfs all that sort of thing,
sitting well over an hour before i got out of there,
only thing they were able to pull me on was my rear fog light was nt working, numbers plates too small and my sunstrip, thats been on the car for 6 years and goes through mot ever year no problem with it,
so i have 14 days to sort and take to my local mot centre to them to check it,
at least they did nt check my emissions
fuckin tramps have nothing better to do and it boils my piss

Seems to be a lot of this going on,i got pulled and taken into a car park
The police checked me out, then vosa checked my van out and i got dipped then the inland revenue wanted my accountants details
Then they asked me to remove the satnav because it was blocking my view out the windscreen.
No wonder people hate the police

Rather than spending money on temp mot stations to catch someone with lowered suspension or tinted windows, surely it would be better to set up a dozen anpr vans/cars and drag the people who have NO mot at all, along with NO insurance and NO tax!
Which of the above is more likely to be a danger on the road, and more likely to have more to find when being stopped??

its all about making money/saving money and conviction rates/clear up rates.
FPN's look great on statistics, crime is considered solved straight away.
Also pulling over semi-honest and modified motors is easy money too. They usually pay up so on paper everything looks great.
However you target scumbags and everything changes. Yes they get the car off the road. However getting a conviction is another matter. The proper scumbags rarely have a license so dont give a fuck. Dont turn up a court, dont pay their fines etc etc etc. Thats if they can prove who was driving or the CPS dont drop the case on a pathetic excuse like "public interest".
often they dont bother with repeat offender scumbags. Whats the point in banning him for another 2 years when he was already banned for years and has never had a license??
Costs loads to take them to court compared to a FPN on an easy target.
oh not forgetting many driving offences wont get to court because the scumbag has other more serious offences they are focusing on instead.
So of course they target the rest of us instead.

I got pulled in for one of these, they even did a noise check which thank feck I had the laptop on me for so I could make a few adjustments (it was done at half max rpm so I set the limiter to 5K, lol)
TBH though most of the cars they pulled in at the same time as me actually WERE dangerous, ludicrously low on silly amount of camber and hence worn out inside edge of the tyres and that sort of thing.
So while I kind of agree with the idea that the police should be out catching real criminals etc, I do also think that not letting silly kids kill innocent people because they have made their car unsafe is an important part of their job too.
Sadly the MOT in this country is nowhere near strict enough to really help them do that though, we need a TUV style setup really.

Sure for IVA and older SVA there are specific limits which i think should be applied across the board.
However the limits vary depending on when you took a test.
eg SVA was 101 db, IVA is 99db. I can imagine in future the db limit for new tests will only go down.
So there will be multiple limits in force
I do think a lot of heavily modified cars would actually be better off being forced to go under IVA testing as a "radically altered vehicle".
By being tested it takes out all the doubt bullshit in the regulations that are used for mainstream cars. You hear of bullshit claims like it shouldnt have an exhaust "significantly" louder than factory.
Who determines what is significant?? and how is it fair to say a fiesta with a 95db exhaust is illegal because its significantly louder, yet a ferrari with a 99db exhaust is perfectly legal??
At least under IVA the standard is set at the time you took the test. You know where you stand, you just download the manual and modify the car to meet the standards. Job done.
I think TUV would be a step too far if its that strict as for many small companies it would be an expensive addition to have the suitable testing done. It would also make many custom conversions pretty much unviable.
Something like the IVA there is a specific section based on construction and fitness for purpose where the inspector looks at the general construction and strength of componants and suitability for intended use. That should catch out obviously dangerous componants/mods.

was just going over your story, if i were in a bad mood and had a Cosworth, id of made them earn their money by flooring it and getting a chase, probably a bad idea but lets face it, they wouldnt of caught you lol......unless they scrambled the chopper in which case youd of been so far ahead and parked up by the time the chopper got to the scene !!
if you did get caught your excuse would be, "i didn't have time to idle my fucking chinese was getting cold" lol
lol i agree though some places where the ol bill are really take the piss, some are pucka and some are arsholes.

Sigh..... I will type thing out and try to post it for the third time. The MOT checks are from operation blizzard at the start of the year. They are picking on young drivers and modified cars. They take you to either a Mot station or a mobile Mot site. I don't know wither there are any grounds you can refuse, although a mate of mine parked the car and offered the police man his keys claiming he had better things to do and he got away. Work isn't an excuses as they will take delivery drivers, taxis etc.
When they Mot your car they will find something regardless if it is legal/road worthy or not. For example they revoked a mates Mot for defective rear tires even though there was 2.5mm of tread left across the whole tire and he didn't change them for the retest.
Another example is that they revoked a mates Mot even though he had only just went through the test that day over a oil leak which turned out to be a little dribbled oil while servicing it.
So there is no winning. You can add roadwatch Ni on facebook or twitter and they update on speed trap locations, mots etc
You also download the app which is free for now and this gives you a local newsfeed of traffic branch and customs movement and activity. You can also use it to report activity if you come across it.
Its not bad but it relies on people reporting it so more people need to start using it.

why does NI have different MoT standards to rest of UK?
doesnt make sense.
A small oil leak on an engine would never fail over here. hell if you tried to fail a car for a small leak then 99.9% of cossies would be off the road permenantly
Are the RUC (sorry PSNI with so called new standards) just being a bunch of cunts to motorists for any particular reason??
