Any 530D experts in tonight ?
I have a 2003 E39 530D Sport Auto and have recently bought one of these Ecotune Decat downpipes http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ST-STEEL-B...item3cc0764d3a
I have had it fitted and I now have a problem. the exhaust doesnt seem to be blowing but I am hearing an awfull lot of Turbo chatter and whistling up about 2500RPM then it seems as if something closes and the noise stops. It sounds like a Cossie with a big Foam induction kit and it really annoying LOL
The mechanic has had another look and says he cant see anything wrong but it cant just be because i dont have the cats anymore surely. Is there anything he might have broken/disturbed etc around the downpipe?
Any advice would be good, people actually turn round when the hear me whistling down the road now, hardly discrete LOL

From listing.
Is there an increase in noise?
There is no noticeable difference to the sound of the exhaust forby a near inaudible yet pleasing whistle which comes with the improved flow.
Does say to give them a call if there is a problem. Sorry not much help.

Oh dear! You want to hear an ST tdci with a decat! Haha! Most certainly the decat, the cat holds back power and noise! Try youtube, may have some examples of decatted cars on there!

I honestly dont think its just the decat pipe, i've heard others and yes you can hear the turbo whistling a bit more than standard but this is like theres an atmos dump valve fitted, boost leak ?

I know what you mean mate, thers definately more whistle but theres also what i can only describe as a loud " Pishhhh" sound like a dump valve that builds up to about 2500 rpm then suddenly stops , like a leak suddenly seals itself up plus loads of chatter ,like a cossie with a big group A filter. Just doesnt suit the car and I'm sure its not right
