Widespread Icy Roads & Heavy Snow
Affecting Essex, Hertfordshire, Southend-On-Sea, Suffolk & Thurrock
Outbreaks of snow, sometimes heavy, are expected during the rest of this afternoon and this evening. Visibilities will be poor in any heavy snow. Accumulations are likely with 0-2 cms widely and a further 5-10 cms possible in places, most especially over upland areas. Outbreaks of snow should become more scattered and less frequent after midnight. Strengthening northeasterly winds will also bring problems with blowing snow across hills. Widespread ice is also likely where roads are wet, either from showers or from previously melted snow with this risk persisting throughout the night. Driving conditions will be dangerous and motorists are advised to avoid driving if possible.
