Default Cosworth 4x4 few issues/questions

Hi guys

I have a problem with my car it is a sapphire 4x4 cosworth and I think the release bearing is on its way out as I get a whining noise but it stops when I press the clutch pedal, I think the release bearing is on its way out. Is it a gearbox out job? Is it possible to do without a ramp or should I get it done at a garage? I had a price of £450 with a luk clutch.

Any advice greatly received.

Cheers

Paul

It will be the box mate, your thrust bearing isn't been used when the peddle is released.
If it was making a noise when you press the clutch it would be release bearing.
Check you have correct oil in the box if that's ok then it sounds like main shaft bearing .
