clutch cable or ratchet issue....

apon puttin a new clutch n manual box in the onion iv got to the stage wher it can run but wont engage gears proply. if u start it up in gear its ok moving the car but doesnt wana go in with pedal pressed,,
either ratchet will only adjust to such level n thinks its at right place...
or.... cables to long
this seems to b all thats stoppin me makin it pod in the old bunion!!!

if it moves when the car is started in gear , then the cluch plate is possibly in the wrong way , or as u say the plate isnt releasing due to clutch cable length , had same issue coulple of weeks ago ,and it was cable length.
although we now know that the ratchet can be adjusted with a bar at the pivot pin , pressing the clutch pedle down ,apply pressure on the clutch arm in the direction of the bulk head ,slowly raising the pedle the rachet will click to dajust ,,
sorry if i am telling u what u may know but thats all i can think of

that helps thanks, il try adjusting it like u said... i hav a mk5 pedle im saving for my series one but if all else fails can pinch it n replace it spose, jus dont really wana get involved puttin it in if can get round it a simple way.
