Dave, i have just taken off my pace 500 i/c, you can try that if it helps.

dont think i had issues withit on my car, dont know what temps it was running at but it went well when doing Donington.

it has a take off for a dump valve on the cool outlet though, can be blocked off easy enough but dont think a turbo cooler will fit inbetween if you are running one.

can meet up if you want to have a try of it.

Dave
Thanks for the offer but i am running a turbo cooler.

What i'm not running is water cooling through the turbo, so may look reintroducing this to reduce turbo operating temp, suspect it makes little difference though as many people run without.

It's still extra water cooling capacity in the system, but when you put it like that it's sounds odd.

Any photos of your setup that might aid a resolution?

lol, get a more efficient radiator if you need a t/c to keep temps down.

have you a big wing sump fitted, maybe worth fitting.

Dave
Yes got big wing baffled sump, and remote thermostated oil cooler (driver side).
Standard rad, so put turbo cooler rad on to help, though may not be necessary.

I think my issues are temps in the charge air, generated by the turbo, so i will put back the turbo cooling water (if i can get banjo washers ), just put on Grp A cone filter so am making a heat shield for it.
I'll see how Oulton goes this week and maybe invest in new intercooler.

Couple of pics.

water cooling the turbo core is for turbo long livety to allow hot shut downs
to protect the bearing core
it makes no difference to your charge air temps
I would look more at damming the intercooler to the front bumper etc so all available air is directed through the intercooler core
as mentioned previously on this thread did you check the system for air leaks

I have checked manifold gaskets and all look fine, also checked the hoses and refitted, not pressure tested as i dont have the gear to do it, but the cooler is in excellent condition i've had a good look over it so there are no obvious leaks from that.
I will do as you say work on flowing all air through the cooler.

Pressure test is easy bung up air intake to turbo use either a compressor or foot pump to pressurise system through compressor via the small tube to amal valve.

you will find a air leak how ever small needs to be sorted. Mine leaked from the rear of compressor housing so had to buy a new O ring.

You will be surprised how much pressure all your hoses are under.

Hi, did you get to the root of this issue?

I think so, the wastegate was sticking, put another .48 rear housing on, the car seems to run fine, so i'm not worring about it anyway.
But if i come across a .55 housing i'll upgrade, so the boost doesn't drop off so much.
