People that sell turbos second hand saying "checked out by so an so In my case global turbos and it's mint no play etc.. I give him 100 quid for it because it's 'mint' it arrives and looks a bit dirty which is okay I see how much play and there's a bit but I thought Ohhh can't be as bad as mine already is! Turns out its a lot worse than mine so decided to send it off for a rebuild and the shafts and wheels are fooked and the seal plate an few other bits! Deary me!!

Moral of the story don't buy used turbos off a person who cannot speak proper English. "Safe yh I pst ur trbo Tmoz"

Sad to say you get what you pay for, second hand turbos are a total minefield in my opinion, better off refurbishing or replacing with new.

 

I've sold plenty of good used turbos and I always offer a 14 day warranty if they do fail. There are plenty of crooks around now, unfortunately

 

As above, been there done that...even bought off a reputable trader and the thing smoked like a chimney lol!
Never buy a 2nd hand one again unless it was from a car known to me and a mate.

 

I would only buy a 2nd hand turbo if i knew the history of it.
