Focus rs and bmw m3 , both are bargains now ..
Why do you say , so many dreamers out there? I have seen lots and lots of focus rs for sale at around 5-6 k !
M3's are the same ,both cars have took a kicking price wise !
I have owned both cars and imo the focus at 300bhp was perfect fast everyday car .
The m3 was also good ,better quaility ,but boaring after a while

I have always liked the M3, and am myself considering buying one in the near future, I also like the FRS, but imo the M3 is a better deal, you get more power, a six cylinder engine and RWD.
I have done quite a bit of reseach into the M3 and would advise you to note the following (If you already don't know, thats if you don't go with the FRS instead)
Check the boot floor recall has been done, as they crack.
Make sure the all important running in service has been done, apparently as well if it's a pre 03 car then the engine bearings should have been replaced under warranty?
Also although more of a personal thing, avoid the SMG gearbox, preferences aside from what I have seen they tend to be problematic (Pump failures etc) and are expensive to fix!
Also I have noticed that brakes and tyres cost a fortune, so it's worth checking there condition.

Realistically i am willing to spend upto 6.5k for a standard car with between 60 and 70k on it. Full history ect ect.............
I know people who have paid that sort of figure for cars with that spec....its just a waiting game.
I know they can be had for 8k for that spec......usually from the dreamers. I say dreamers but they will get that for them.....but not from me....

just as a side note.
I know a few people with higher mileage frs.. and to be honest as long as the bodywork has been kept in good order, the mechanicals seem pretty good for milage too.
120k miles not using a drop of oil, water or anything. still making brilliant power (300bhp on standard everything except downpipe)
so i dont think the higher milage ones are too much to worry about..
that said i dont really know as mine has just ticked over to 52k lol .

dont be upset when your on the way to a show and get taken apart by a FRS.....they are by far the more exciting and tuneable car
any FRS for 6.5k wont exactly be a minter.id have thought if you wanted 60-70k than 7.5k would be a better budget......if you want a n immaculate one
mines done 110k now and cant fault it, dont be afraid of high milers....hard to sell on but good bargains right now

Coldo loves seamen
To be fair though Carlo I've seen 03 plate E46's with mega rusty front arches! Even my 55 plate has tiny wee rust bubbles inside where the fuel cap is

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I've had both back to back and prefered the focus rs, the m3 was abit boring and the bills were alot more than with the focus.
The M's do rot also, front arches/ rear arches rear section between bumper and boot, under the plastic covers for the door latch etc.
Downside of the focus vs m3 is they feel very plastic once your sat inside.
