hmm funny thing is it passed in the same garage last year.. when i took it the tester said hmm bit loud that! someone else said "oh its supose to sound like that!" its a cosworth..!
I have the middle box removed so that probly dont help. so now want to find a backbox thats quieter, or replace the whole lot.. would like the look of the original backbox if i can get it to fit the 3" system with an adapter! anyone know who sells an orignal looking backbox, lookin on feebay now see if anythings about.

It's all a bit pathetic though really as Harley Davidson bikes and Lamborghini cars are far louder but are ok as they were made like it, think they have the ability to fail if it is significantly louder than what they perceive a standard car of that type to sound like, think with new mot from this year and probably more to add to it in near future us petrol heads are in for a hard time.

mine was loud even with a middle box in so i got a new magnex twin box centre section and mated it up to my original mongoose system and is so much nicer to drive now.. used to rattle the pictures on the wall in the house when ticking over on the driveway.. even better was the magnex is brand new and cost 40 quid..

I've still got the scorpion system but simply swapped the back box for a newer, non- restrictive scorpion one. It doesn't scream like it used to on boost but I think it's probably louder now

I had a fail on my old Integrale with a Group A exhaust with NO silencers so I took it somewhere else
That thing was so fucking loud with no silencers that you could hear it from a mile away!

Information
Method of Inspection
Reason for rejection
The overall security of the exhaust system should be assessed; one or more exhaust mountings missing may not be a Reason for Rejection.
A durable repair to an exhaust system which effectively prevents leaks is acceptable providing the system is structurally sound.
A minor exhaust leak from, for example, a connection joint or a pin hole, is not a Reason for Rejection.
1. Check the security of the exhaust system.
2. With the engine running, check the exhaust system for leaks.
3.On vehicles that qualify for a full cat emissions test, check the presence of the catalytic converter.
4. During all parts of the emissions test relevant for the vehicle, assess subjectively the effectiveness of the silencer in reducing exhaust noise.
Note: For vehicles not subject to an emissions test, the engine should be revved to around 2500rpm or approximately half maximum engine speed if this is lower.
5. On Class 5 vehicles only, check that the exhaust tailpipe is positioned so it is unlikely that fumes will enter the driver’s or passenger area.
1. An exhaust system not adequately supported.
2. A major leak of exhaust gases from any part of the system.
3. A catalytic converter missing where one was fitted as standard
4. A silencer in such condition, or of such a type, that the noise emitted from the vehicle is clearly unreasonably above the level expected from a similar vehicle with a standard silencer in average condition.
5. An exhaust tailpipe positioned so that fumes are likely to enter the driver’s or passenger area.
