OK, so my RS seems to have spat its dummy again.

Before checking with a comp tester tomorrow, i have a sneaking suspicion that the bottom end has let go. It started missing then the miss got heavier, then I had to rev it quite hard for it to even think about running. Now its gone pop, doesnt want to start.

Issue is, it's a ZVH and I do not have a clue which bottom end I have to enable me to look for a new unit.

Its a 1.8 with the Oil filter at the back, pointing towards the gearbox slightly. ..Also, when I get a spare block, I know some oil galleries need blocking off, can someone confirm which ones so that I can get cracking with a rebuild.

Mods - Please dont move this to the Escort forum, I need as much help/input as I can here.

I would love to go back to CVH, but I dont even know what alternator/engine mount set up I have and I just want to get this thing running again ASAP

OK, so looking back through my old posts, seems I have a blacktop.

But, can someone tell me which oil galleries need filling in please. Also anything else within reason that needs to be done

Easiest way to tell what block you have is to look at the oil filter. If it's attached to the block itself, it's a blacktop. If it's attached to the oil pump, it's a silver top.

As for the bits you need to bung up, take a look at:

Should have pretty much everything you'll ever need to know on there!

Is the oil filter located directly to the oil pump? If so its a silvertop.

If the oil filter fits directly to the back of the block its a blacktop.

Easiest way to check!
