Default Alcon Brakes

Anyone ever had a play with them? Better or worse than Brembo/AP?

I know they came on the Puma Racing but heard they don't have any dust seals so seize quickly. Do the after market 4/6pots have this issue?

they are on par with ap/brembo ,but they dont sell to the general public you have to go with a supplier and they will have your pants down on price, if you want a ap 6 pots/356mm full kit for your escort cossie let me know and i will pm you with a price

no dust seals as alcon are aimed at works cars that are virtually stripped after a few runs sort of thing,
i think most wrc teams run these

Mono 6 and Mono 4 Alcons have dust seals

Here is a pic of my Alcon Mono 6 pots:
I will be putting on H-Type 4 pots on the rear as well.

If they are the road caliper they will have dust seals , fitted inside the bores like the AP 5200's , the later AP's have the same dust seals as the Brembo's where the seal fully covers the pistons , so they dont get any road muck on them , but if they are competition ones they wont have dust seals , and the pads may rattle a bit

I have these calipers fitted to my own discs and bells and brackets on my rally car I'm building , got them for a song at the last Prodrive sale

Front kit

On the rear kit I have used the standard dscs to retain the handbrake which have shoes fitted in the centre ( this is an E30 M3 ) which keeps the scruteneers happy , but made brackets to take the smaller rear 4 pots

Both calipers were fitted to the WRC Subaru's

Ian

hoping you can help - where did you source your wheel hub adapters?

I am looking for a set to convert from cosworth 4 bolt hubs to a 5 bolt pattern with a pcd of 114.3

quite local to you if you actually make them

cheers
