Default engine help on the clio please

Evening all we done a track day at croft today in the 172 and had a slight mishap lol

Sarah over took 2 cars down the back straight and suddenly the car cut out, she bumped it off in gear but it sounded horrendous (rattling noise) and had no power then proceeded to cut out again. Car won't even turn over now just clicks when you try start it, also if you put the car in gear and try move it its seems like its seized solid. I personally think its spun a shell and locked up but does anybody else have any ideas please?

Cheers

The bottom pulley could have slipped. They arent keyed and resusing the stretch bolt can result in failures. The F4R rarely goes wrong, its usually human error.

I would get a scope down a plug hole, see if you can see any issues.

When you say the new one has had belts done, I would redo it while its off to make sure its done properly. Of the timing is out it will be down to about 140bhp

It's only done 5k since it was built, but looks like its been sold now anyway so back to the drawing board.

So the new lump stands you at £150. Not bad going.

Get the belts done and a good oil in there. I used Elf Evo 5w30. It was specifically designed for that engine
