Hi, ive just bought a 130ps escort and was wondering what mods can be done to increase the power without turboing it ? cheers

 

ported head, throttle bodies/carbs

 

2.0 mondeo cams, 2.0 throttle body and a chip should see 150 bhp iirc

 

The 130PS engine basically has the same cams as the 2.0 as is, same for the throttle housing.

You'll get wildly differing opinions on this sadly. I'd go for a nice exhaust manifold, stainless system, panel filter and perhaps a chip, see where that gets you. Both the Zetecs I've had with decent manifolds on seemed to feel a bit more free to rev.

 

Remove the engine and fit the 2 litre from a Mondeo. Will see you with an actual 130bhp than the 1.8s alleged 130

that would see you over 180bhp
