Testing switches

Trying to figure out the problem with a escort cabriolet electric hood not working and i wondered how i would go about testing to see if the switch is at fault. Any ideas?

From: Rouse Sport heaven ;)

pull switch out and using multimeter/power probe see if switch puts power to relevant wiring to relay or pump
