Yes some engines do manage without idle valves but most run better during warm up with one, whenever we fit Omex or any aftermarket management for that matter I always recommend having an idle valve. Throttle body set ups normally manage well without them though.

The problem is the smoke and can this be down to the idle valve? What else does this valve do???

i would change the oil and filter and get the map checked properly by someone else.

There is way too much fuel going in and it is mixing with your oil.

Can you not plug the laptop and check the AFR - you need the Omex software

I have had a look to see what download I need but there is soo many different ones????
Just want to see if it is simple to do or something obvious. I will be needing an omex specialist to set it up and the cost will be going straight to the first garage who f'd it up!!!!

The idle valve (fitted or not) has nothing to do with the smoke, I really think you need to take it somewhere that knows what they're doing. A base map can be really close or absoloutly miles off so I'd get it sorted asap.
