Drive about and look for the piles of bricks!

Seriously though, how about going onto the main developers websites such as persimmon or something like that.

Yea the council may know also.

well rather than allowing yourself to be gazumped try "gazundering", let everything go through as planned and a week before your due to complete say you can only give x amount (your original offer maybe), 90% of the time they have no choice but to accept unless they want to lose the house there buying!
Not sure how you go about the paperwork etc-best to ask the guy who posted who works in estates- i know its feasible though as we know someone who did it a few months back and saved a few k.

Nice one

I bought my 2 bed flat for £90k just under 3 years ago, just about to put it on the market for £140k

Was an ex-council place that badly needed renovating so done over the past couple of years.

Well done mate with the buy, you must be chuffed as you have posted a few downer threads lately what with work and the missus' clio, pleased for you

Hopefully buy over here in the next few months but we rent about 100 metres from the beach so not a lot of incentive! Also get a first home buyers grant from the state and another from the Government which is handy.

Good luck with it all
