Fiat Uno Turbos

missis had a mk1 (1,3) turbo for her first car.
Was loads of fun, took it to powers for a set up and was running 145bhp
Doesnt sound alot but considering they only way as much as a fag packet lol.
Suspension defo needs upgrading imo, sound nice with a decent exhaust on them.
Tourque steer like fook though , handled alright, but did feel scary on the m25 in the rain at 130mph

hello chaps
sadly i own a mk2 one of these
few things: - mk1 had lower ratio gearboxes than the mk2 hence quicker acceleration,
mk1 = 1301cc
mk2 = 1372cc
turbo located in the most inaccessable place behind the inlet manifold - almost had a nervous break down replacing these in the past lol!
engines are 7.8:1 compression ratio as standard - cant be bad!
had mine 4.5 years - in that time its not started twice - once was a dead battery which was 2 weeks ago - the battery was 5 years old tho lol! the other time was a dirty relay contact for ignition system.
i have done a few bits to mine with impressive results - last time was on the rollers it made a lot of bhp but not much torque compared to the first time - said i was doing 133 in 4th gear????? think thats wrong so power figures are wrong i rekon!
scorpion full stainless systems are only Ł210 new!!!
can fit a bleed valve and run them at 0.9bar straight away altho turbo will suffer a little after a while but engine and fuel will be fine.
ermmmmmmmm bad bits - rust obviously, and lots of it lol! ermmm, lowering them 60mm makes them slightly less ugly to look at, goes round corners well due to the fact it has absolutely no suspension travel left - can be scarey over bumps on motorway!! bits and information are a nightmare to get hold of - everyone says different things, fuel injection system is very limited by the crap jettronic system with its pants air flow meter, ermmmmmm, 15" wheels 7" wide or larger need arch mods........brakes are quite powerful from standard at 120mph but then the servo seems to 'run out' at roundabouts or crawling so upgrade essential........bigger wheels are a must - will slow acceleration but will stop the copious amounts of 1st and 2nd gear wheelspin that you get with the standard 13" biscuit wheels lol! thats standard cam turbo and boost by the way!
anythin else you wanna know???
oh yeh - BIG plus - ultra cheap insurance and cheaper tax bracket - my insurance was Ł400 year before last a few mods declared with 4 years NCB - this year was Ł500 with all mods declared and 5 years NCB but some 18 year old had wrecked a cossie causing 2millions worth of damage which his insurance had to pay for or sumthin hence big premiums???!?

My old man had a the 1.3 turbo when I was a nipper - don't remember much about it other than to me it was the fastest thing in the world lol.... He did tell me tho that cluthes only lasted 5 mins each tho
Surprised no ones pointed out that the 1.3 is a carb'd engine and the 1.4 is injection.....

1.3 was the best - not sure how they fair in modded form, but very hard to damage in standard form and hilarious fun
I think they rusted badly because they were made in Spain out of old recycled Russian tanks, or was that they old Alfas - can't remember

These engines were demmed too powerful so the boost was reduced.
That means you can up the boost to 1 bar and still have a reliable engine.
I don`t know if the ecu map goes to 1 bar boost though.
