awesome cars
found this info on panza's site
WRC bodyparts for the Escort Cosworth.
Here I will share my experiences with aftermarket WRC bodyparts.
I think the WRC Escorts look very cool, and that was part of the reason why I bought the WRC front bumper for my car. But if you ask me if I'd do it again the answer would be no. The reason for that is mainly the installation of the bumper which is not straight forward at all.
I bought my WRC bumper from MC Rallying. Something I would strongly discourage anyone else to do. The fibreglass parts made by them are simply not up to spec. Problems include:
Problems include but might not be limited to:
A part of the bumper had cracked due to poor packaging.
One of the brackets were in the wrong position.
The gelcoat finish is way to thick, up to 10mm at the extremes. This makes it very brittle and easily cracked.
The finish is poor and lots of hand finishing and filler is needed before it can be painted.
The upper part of the bumper which is supposed to fit snugly under the headlights etc are not finished. Between 50 and 100mm needs to be taken off to make it line up with the lights and front arches. This takes a lot of time
The entire construction is not straight. Maybe 15mm out over the complete length.
My advice for those who really want the WRC look is to buy genuine parts from Ford Motorsport instead. The WRC front bumper is Ł995 from Ford. I think the extra cash would have been worth it. The only drawback with the genuine thing I can see is that mounting points has to be fabricated, but they will need fixing on the cheap parts too so it's about the same.
Another thing to consider if the rear WRC spoiler is to be installed is that the mounting holes for the whale tail needs to be welded and the entire hatch repainted. It will be difficult to go back to the whale tail again.
If anyone know a company which makes perfect WRC bumpers for the Escort Cosworth then please let me know by sending me an e-mail me at: Sigmundcool@hotmail.com.
I took a lot of work with such a poor starting point, but it still looks half decent.

must admit, my fron end needs work.
the grill is the same as steve scott's and it's avery shabby fit
my front bumper is fibre glass and so is the one i'm picking up tonight.
my my rear wrc spoiler is not fibre glass as it has a weave in it, so could well be carbon fibre or kevlar

I still think the genuine Ford motorsport items aren't a particularly good fit either.
When you're taking off over a crest at 100+ mph, panel gaps and quality of the paint finish are the last things you worry about..........

The original ford part no. is 9096728 but i dont think you'll find an original....the original's were a carbon/kevlar item...we have tried both these and glass and they both smash and crack the same....when ford ran these bumpers etc they had numerous companies producing them they went through them that fast...i think everyone missed the boat when boreham shut and most were scrapped....even the ford originlas didnt fit particuarly well with the lights etc...
