Default piston heads, right or wrong?

I'm not one for the whole dub scene and its bullshit but this porsche 911 was built by a guy i know and to me its epic

loads of custom body work, rare wheels, hydros, custom interior etc etc
a lot of work went into it as although he has built many cars that got mag covers sch as fast car, max power etc this car was his dream.
it features in the dubshed 2012 teaser
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbK-WdRvjmg

Now up until this point all was fine......until piston heads seen it

http://pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=25159

is it really that bad? i thought it was awesome to see something different from the norm

opinions?

Someone is trolling.

I would hardly calls those "overly bling split rims". Not like its a set of asanti's or something.

Think that is a very nice looking porsche, excluding the numberplate.

People linking this to all these forums is only giving the owner of the porker and the organisers of dubshed, publicity!!!

John peden was on Reallymeansounds.com earlier, over the moon at how contriversial his car has became over this pistonheads topic. And them dubshite boys are lapping up the free advertisement!!

John peden has done oddities before (max power featured 205 with bora headlights, 106 gti with grafitti bonnet, hydro and superlights). Nothing new here

As for the dubshed guys running a "charity show"....this is their 4/5th yr and the last 3 years it has clashed each time with another charity show (20miles away) thats being going for 7ish years!!! The longest show...in any carpark they can grasp their hands on. Dubshed - in the kings hall. Egotistic organisers who are not exactly charitable. Though some here from NI will beg to differ!!

Carry on...

I think it looks cool! Was a little unsure on the lights in the door speakers though but think they would grow on me.

I quite like the look fundamentally, wheels suit it etc, but I wouldnt ruin a 911 mechanically like that myself (ie the hydraulic/air whatever suspension and camber etc) just for a look, to me they are drivers cars not pointless show cars

Each to their own though, be a boring world with no variety.

You can't really argue about the standard of Johns work, as it does always seem to be excellent.

His taste is an acquired one for sure, as are many with cars. Some like that style, some hate it.
If it works for the owner, it is all that matters really.

But Ive yet to see a car that has been lowered to that extent actually look good. I think they all look terrible, and I find stretched tyres the most ridiculous look ever.

I certainly wouldnt say the wheels look bad on the car at all though. The only negative with the cars look is the ride height, the wheels look pretty good really.

I like it, I wouldn't do the airbag thing myself due to my experiences with a range rover lol

Imo Pistonheads is full of people sitting in offices working out their mpg using excel spreadsheets trying to be cool by making shitty comments, if they don't get in there first with "this isn't going the way the op thought" or 1 of the other 6 cool statements to make they carry on like it's going to be parked in their bedroom.

Bodywork - Fine.
Wheels - Fine.
Suspension - Bent.
Interior - Bent.

I find myself totally agreeing with chip. Don't like any kind of airbag/hydraulic suspension, and this stance craze that sees real drivers cars become undriveable due to poor ground clearance.

I've stopped buying it, every car is the same (stanced to death). I used to favour it to max power, but tbh, wish I picked max power instead. Anyone remember the black porsche they had on the cover? That I liked

Its his car, he can do what he likes to it.
It looks quite smart, as stated about, i can imagine the handling and drive-ability have a suffered a little, but thats up to him.

I enjoyed the video though, for some reason, thought it was very nicely shot.

I haven't missed the point at all.

The OP has asked ''Is it really that bad?'' My response being that I love what the guy has done to it, so I've hardly completely missing the point.

If you want me to elaborate further though, I'd be happy owning a completely standard 964 as they look great as they are, but I also like the modifications carried out on this one. People can do what they like to any car if they want, doesn't bother me personally.

I await your usual clever dick response....

I would have it sat in my garage so I could look at it but don't feel it's enjoyable to drive only to pose in as with the majority of these 'scenester' type people.

I like the way it looks. Because it looks like a Porsche with nice wheels.

Hydraulic suspension etc doesn't float my shizzle.

No, because he's clearly not gone down the route he has to improve the ride and driveability, it's more a show car now rather than a performance car you can throw around a track.

Some might say it's wrong doing that to a Porsche, but each to their own and I think it looks great. I would simply have another car that I could enjoy driving fast on a track.

on the handling front i don't think its that bad its not a track car but he does like to drive it, iv'e never had a spin myself but talking to people who have they said it feels planted and doesn't roll. Hydros are very different set up to air, they have got to be better than the old tired suspension. He planning on a supercharger too so it can't be that bad.

was waiting on you replying!! and for the record...i have always been a bitter "troll"!! and i wouldn't believe everything the dubbers/gtini bai's say in regards to the organisation of dubshed vs ucs and the clashing!!

@ stevieturbo: yes his workmanship does seem to be good. tbh i loved his 205 back in the day, but as for the 106 - it was shockin' imo!! Though the porker isnt out of the ordinary!! its actually quite subtle for him!

his work is second to none, i had him spay the bonnet, bumper and boot lid of my st and it is flawless. Some of the work he did to my mates cars was mental.

Here's one that looks similar to the one in the video, without the stupid suspension.

Nothing wrong with modifying a 911.

Me too!!!

The point in the vid where it rolled into the warehouse, it looked perfect. Sadly its suspension collapsed soon after

I'd love a 911. Any 911.
