Afternoon clever peeps my daughter got home last night with a strong plasic burning smell which stunk the car out and u could smell it as u went towards it outside, the smell only started 5 before she got home as she thought it was the car in front that was spinning his wheels like a looney to go 5mph ....also footwell lights stayed on and main interior light ...dash lights switched off

any ideas what it could be ?????
its under warrentry so got to phone ford in the morning just hoping they dont riggle out of doing it sayingthe old "wear n tear" line

Or is smell ONLY inside car ?

Process of elimination. Have look from the manifold down if anything has stuck onto it and the exhaust then inside the car.

checked the whole exhaust n clean as a whistle i cant see anything inside with out pulling all the dash off

Can you not pinpoint the smell whether it is coming from inside the car or under the bonnet?

Id say theres some part of the loom rubbed / burned through.
Id have a good look round whilst its still light and deffo before she drives the car again.

got it back from ford dealer and it was rat poo on the engine

But how would rat poo affect the footwell lights and interior light? Still sounds like there is a problem somewhere. If you've had rats in the engine bay i would check that they haven't nibbled any wiring.

check the wiring, i once had to send a brand new just of the trailer shitroen c3 back because a rat had chewed the loom into shite
