Help ! Mondeo oil filter removal
Can anyone help - the 36mm plastic oil filter housing that the Mondoe uses has snapped, so I can't get a socket on it any more and it in there tight. I have also snapped an oil filter removal chain trying to grip it around trying to move it.
How do I get it off ??
Please !

You could always smash it to pieces (as long as its a down hanging one) or just smash the lip off. The tension is being held by the lip touching the housing do if you smash it off you should be able to unscrew the thread left ok.
Who did it up FFS?
What mondeo is it anyway? I've never done ones with plastic covers, usually the ford stuff is 27mm too when it is plastic (trannies and focus etc) Mind you, I've only done newer ones and they've all had metal filters.

it's a 14 sided socket i think so a normal one may not fit
don't break it as then you'll need a new one
assuming it's the cartidge type paper filter yes and it sits at the front of the engine? i used some big ass pliers to get mine off but they did leave a big gouge in the plastic

Well, done but what a total bastard.
Even had a removal tool that my mate uses on coaches, with a bar and a length of scaffold pole and it STILL wouldn't budge so had to do it the other way. Smashed it to pieces with hammer and chisel so the base was totally gone and it would flex, and then got a screwdriver in-between the plastic and the metal housing and folded it in on itself. Fortunately the oil had already been drained out yesterday so it was relatively clean.
Done now - what a bastard job.

I also use a smear of oil on the seal to stop kinking and ease them coming off too!

Drive a long screw driver right through it be prepared for oil leaking. then gust unscrew using a hamer, When you have gone as far as you can drive it through again when loose gust use you fingers.
