In the real world and with some serious graft it would be an Escort Cosworth or Sierra RS500 Cosworth

If a massive lottery win came in then I would get a Porsche 911 GT3 RS in Green and Black

By the end of this year I aim to have a Focus ST / Saph Cosworth or Escort RS Turbo.

An old school 911 Turbo 2 like the one from Bad Boys. Would love one. Just looks so slick.

I was lucky enough growing up that my dad had an escort cosworth and when I was 18-20, got to drive about in it so kinda felt what it was like having one without actually paying for it Ditto with a Focus RS Mk1.

I cant really think of any car i'd particuarly like to buy at the moment, really like Porkies Exige S but wouldnt spend my own money on one.

I think I just enjoy building stuff too much so would sooner spend the money on yet more crappy hatchbacks to do weird and wonderful things to.

I think one day though I'd quite like to own a mini miglia, if I ever have the spare funds and time to use it properly, thats kind of my only really "definately want one day" car at the moment.
I dont really really have as big an interest in road cars anymore, as there just isnt anywhere to use them properly.

I've always loved the look of that particular 911 too, but TBH I just wouldnt have a use for it really, for normal driving i'd hate the economy, and for driving hard on the road they're too quick and I'd lose my license, and for trackdays its too much money.
Would genuinely get more fun out of owning a Clio 172 if someone offered me one of each.
Bit like Porkie I guess, he did 10 miles last year in his 911 turbo he reckons, and yet did about 1000 times that in his clio.

Ive got to the stage where I dont really want any car I dont particuarly have a use for anymore.
Its why I'll probably break my 3 door at some point, not used it for SO long now!

Z22SE sounds like a good plan if it will fit in ok, not seen one done yet that I recall.

Lets hope it doesnt take the sort of surgery my bloody b18 clio is going to need, lol

the engine itself is lighter and only very slightly wider than an C20XE, once you delete the twin balence shafts its approx 125kg. The problem comes with the gearbox options, either a M32 (heavy, big) or the F23 (heavy, big) lol

Was the width rather than the weight I meant in terms of getting it to fit.

I doubt there is a huge amount in it weight wise between and XE+F20 and a balance deleted Z22SE+F23

Plus at least the weight is more evenly distributed to both sides than an XE+F20

The engines themselves are still quite expensive as well. would have thought all those timing chains braking would have flooded the market somewhat haha

Sadly its the opposite, the cars normally get broken cause the engine is fucked, not because they are rotten.

For a good donor you need a bullet proof engine in a car that rots like fuck.
Hence there were always so many XE engines knocking about.

I think I may be at that stage too!

The Audi I mentioned in my post would be effectively an expensive ornament...and I get no fun from ornaments.

I suppose the car you choose to rag around the track is relitive to what you can afford...if I had 10,s of millions I might decide to have an f40 track car! Lol

I think its a case of sucking it and see with regards to it fitting or not.

The alternator, starter motor and oil filter are all at the front which should fit fine in the nova, the only problem is the massive water pump bulge out the back of the block.

The water pump is run off the same chain as the balence shafts so I could run an electric pump and get rid of that chain entirely, then just block the chain tensioner oil feeds.

And one for some motovation lol

I've seen one in a corsa b, so I dont think there will be too many clearance issues at the back (at least not stuff like the pedal box hopefully which would be harder to do anythin about than just the bulkhead for example)

We should probably stop spamming this thread now, going a little off topic, lol

Agreed, I could afford to go out tomorrow and buy a 20K track car if I particuarly wanted one as ive just about got that in my current accounts without needing a loan or a remortgage or selling shares or whatever, so its not that I dont have access to the funds, but what I cant afford to do is then lose that money in one hit smashing into the barrier.

Very cool howie, but would a bike engined toy not be better if it was an XTR or radical instead?

The minis are a bit heavy for a bike engine IMHO, Ive yet to see one on track thats really any quicker than a well sorted car engined mini like an XE or Vtec etc.

I'm sure that car belonged to a woman around the Bristol area.
remember seeing it a couple of times, and at a RR day.

last I saw it was for sale with a price tag of circa Ł16,000 on it

For the sake of under 100kg extra, i'd sooner have a turbo vtec in the back if it was me TBH
Far cheaper and more reliable at the sort of power figures that people manage to get out of the bike engines not to mention the box wont fall apart where as bike boxes in heavy cars when turbo'd tend to quite often from what I have heard.

I would love to find a mint Fiat 131 supermirafiori sport, always had a soft spot for them, not particularly fast or anything but cool cars imo. Or if money was no object, a Mclaren f1 or Ferrari f40, fat chance of that though lol.
