Seeing ur old RS Broken
Hi,
Just wondered if this annoys anyone else?
See one of my old Rs turbo on ebay at the moment being broken, I know for a fact that the car in question is in mint condition and has a solid shell.
I understand its the owners decision but just seems a waste?

If shell is solid then yes it winds me up as well just a greed thing as people think they can get more money for it. But surely it about letting a legend live on.... On the other hand if it is a rotten as a pear then I can see uit being broken as a good idea to help the ones witch are left on the road

not really its metal at the end of the day .
i understand the blood sweat and tears that goes into rebuilds etc
but if it means that much to you ,you shouldnt have sold it .
me personally ,the current project i am doing has Ł4k worth of parts on it and the car would struggle to shift for Ł2.5k ,so for me if i wanted a good return i would break it up and every bit would still be used elsewhere and i wouldnt take that much of a hit money wise

I always said.. if i will sell of my car.. it will go in pieces..
I don't like to see it in any other hands then my own..... even though 'it's just metal' by then ... it's a piece of me that i've build up over the years..
So .. yes i would be heart broken to see either the car getting taken care of poorly.. or broken into pieces by someone else.

By today's standards my Saph would've been broken up and squashed years ago for the handul of rust spots it had. I'm glad I bought my Saph when I did because if I wanted one today I'd have to build it like a 1:1 model, provided I could find a shell that's not been cut up by a selfish previous owner.

i have bought some real nice cars because they were broken like my
white saff 56k
moonstone 3dr 34k
kaliber trackcar
2 other saffs and a s1
i never could have bought them if they were being sold complete and i get to rebuild them again to my own spec and liking over time as funds allow .
its a illness

Clearly not you. Think it's selfish personally. Ripping up a perfectly good car that a new enthusiast might have taken pride in owning is a bit shallow.

I'm Finding My Feet Here Now
I do think it's sad to see a solid car broken for spares but money is money and more money is better!! Anyhow a solid shell would prob end up a trailer queen track machine!!

I'd break mine too. Couldn't care less if someone would love to own it or not. I very much doubt they would come up with the money it's worth in bits anyway but like Jay said, thats how you stop someone breaking their car.
Sorry, if that's selfish but tough luck!

stage4 2wd cosworth
guy i sold my 2.1 s2 to crashed it so stripped it, swapped my mk6 gti for a mk5 van with rs2000 front and a fiesta rs turbo engine from glasgow way, then the mk6 ended up bk in dundee then got scrapped from the dvla because it never had insurance or tax, and the van ended up gettin broke aswell, i bought my fiesta from aberdeen kept it for a while fucked about with it then sold it to a guy from aberdeen he kept it then sold it to a guy in dundee again it changed hands and now has been broke.
pisses me off when this happens.

It shouldn't matter if you have an emotional attachment to a car, once you have sold it and got the cash in your hand you have no say what so ever what happens to it.I will admit I was a little disappointed when I found my black Sapp on this site broken up by a breaker. It was far from mint or top spec but a rare colour. On a plus note he sold the shell complete so it will live again

I ended up selling the scoob and breaking the rs (due to a business venture i wanted to commit more to)
The rs got broken and the shell got sold, the new owner has already built it up and zetec turbo'd it
Certainly will be strange seeing it on the road and I do miss that car but my own fault for selling it!
Getting attached to cars can be rather dangerous in my opinion! lol
