i think specky tigra was running 700bhp+ and put the power down very well , there is a fiesta in europe that is quicker or very similar , i think he was running around 650bhp when he beat his own record 9.3 @ 151mph , what i will say is that these cars are out and out drag cars and thats it , luca's car to me is a more around car built for track , drag and alot of the cars mentioned above are the same

Not directly but i would like to see what it could do.
Im 470hp at best. I think its more down to the select few that are willing to chuck thousands and thousands and are 100% committed to 1/4mile.
In the Ford world there aren't that many willing to do this.
Yes there are lots that spend the money but they are not 100% committed to rolling up to Santa Pod every month to better the times.
Then back to the garage to change spec or repair and back again...
Cars are capable of the times but as we all know its not as simple as having the spec and turning up!!!
Its more to do with the experience and the lessons learnt each time to progress!!

I wasnt making a statement on the 1/4 mile times, it was referred to in the thread i read. I was just curious of why there were so many ford fans that said the fiesta couldnt put the power down.
I do understand it all comes down to money and who's willing to throw that much at a car. lol

Yasir's civic is still on a standard gearbox, power must of gone up, he was using approx 450bhp last year to get a 10.8 but the engine is one of 786's 800hp ones...
Adam Buckley did a 9.95@153mph last year in his civic type r..

Clarke's Mk2 Fiesta is a great example. 415 bhp, but runs 12.2@129mph. It's got the good basis there but massively struggles with grip, even on slicks and with the suspension played about with a little to get rid of camber and reduce movement etc...

There are gassed up XE powered cars running less power, and running much quicker times with less work gone into them.
Clarke is planning to take the car to a much higher level soon though in terms of chassis mods and engine mods. Be interesting to see what that does for his times.

Appears to be a mix of chassis dynamics, weight distribution and as Luca says, no one has really tried with one yet I reckon.

I think my PB in xe on gas 12.5 @ 119mph, welded diff with 888's
I don't think it will be long till people start improving the fwd Fords, just the fact that people are taking the zetec turbo route more seriously should make a lot of difference

Its a shame the Fords don't work as well out of the box, we do have it easier in that aspect with the Vauxhalls.

How did you find a welded diff on a FWD by the way? I did this to a Mk2 Fiesta drag car project but never got it running so sold it off. I was told by people it would pop shafts/CV joints regularly though but never got to drive it!

Don't get me wrong I'd of had a proper LSD in there if the budget allowed for it, the welded diff worked fine, I think I cracked a 1.91 60ft and my mate dropped into the 1.8's, never had any issues with shafts or gearboxes, just engines too much nitrous

1/4 mile beasty!!!!
Hopefully the front wheel drive times will fall even lower at central day for a few cars ,
it would be nice to see a few dipping the 11s this year along side Lucas very impressive time!!
Should be some good strip action this year!
