Default 1600 cvh block, is there a difference?

hi, hopefully someone can answer this for me.

i have an rs1600i that i am rebuilding. i am at a stage where i have had a break from welding and decided to look towards refurbing the engine. i am not that mechanically minded, but never the les took the engine apart, then took all the bits to a local engine builder. the plan being to let him look over it and advise me what needed to be done or replaced......i was then going to have a go at putting it back together.
the upshot is that the engine has had it, crank is on its last legs having already been re ground, block need a re bore, but apparently is already 60thou over.

i wondered if the standard 1600chv block was the same across the range, (not including the turbo) and it was just hte 16i head that gave the bigger power over the xr3i

if this is the case then i can look towards getting another block thats in better condition.

thanks

Im sure the heads are different but the blocks are the same might be a good idea to get a mfi as i can't see them been different.
