Seeing as Im on rebuilding my car and I have 3 front bumpers I was considering having a play about with one of them with cutting implements and filler. I was wondering what "modifications" folk have done to theirs? More for air flow than aesthetics. I've seen them with the lower front spar cut out and dont mind that but also wondered how an RS500 dip would look under the grill as well as/instead of?
Anyone got any pics to save me trawling through millions of Cossie photo's??
I liked it, i got the idea from a poster of Mike Rs saff i had on my wall lol.
Ive seen quite a few badly done ones though, that literally look like the bar has been cut off with a saw. so if you do it, make sure you fab up some nice neat ends to follow the bumper lines. The 45 degree section is not there on the lower part.
Wonder if you could do the '500' dip, then modify grill to loose bottom bar like an escos grill. Would need that annoying under headlight strip modifiying as well. to give a proper open mouth look if you get me.
Yeah I see what you're saying mate. Ive got a spare headlight strip but no spare grill. Its getting quads in it too with the inner lamps removed as well
Heres mine. Never got round to taking any pics with the strip back in though. I've got a spare grille and headlight strip so i might have a go at modifying it like Richie says.
Just a thought, with the RS500 "dip" part, would it not be easier to get a cheap early non-cossie Saph bumper and take the top section out and graft it into the Cossie bumper?
This is the original bumper from our 2000e and has a proper cut-out as standard.

I thought about that but to be honest it was a lot easier to just cut the standard bumper.
and at glenn - i just took a hacksaw to my mint bumper and cut the middle out. It's the best way, don't worry about what to do if it goes wrong.

Ive never noticed that on yours before, looks brilliant. May need to autospecialist it,I mean, copy it lol.
ok its on a 3dr, but here is was my modded saph bumper. it had had the middle bit cut out already and the bodyshop shaped the edges and filled over the fog holes (and made it 3" longer each side lol)
