What a car!
I wouldnt use one daily as they are hard to get parts for.
Wings are alloy but rust happens in the usual places bar this, also as the arches are wide they are normally stonechipped to death or blown over badly unless you pick up a good one.
A MUCH MUCH better car than they look on paper

I know a few people who had FRP's with the optional one who came to a bit of lift off grief pulling in after a nippy overtake, both felt the diff contributed to the accident, to be fair both are not people i'd let drive me briskly on the road.
I've driven FRP's with and without diffs and really on the road they dont suffer from not having one IMO

My missus has a standard 1.7 and it's fantastic. If the Racing is better, then it must be awesome.
I'd love to drive one. The only complaint I've ever really heard is that they're a bit stiff down bumpy back lanes, but I don't know how much truth there is in that.

To be fair, the alcons are a motorsport caliper and an annual service is all thats needed for about Ł100. Its when they havent been cleaned or serviced for several years that you get problems and end up spending hundreds having to replace scored pistons etc.

To be fair warren I know plenty of folk who changed them, I had one of their sets on my fiesta and they were a pain. Discs are astronomically priced and the service is a hundred quiud a year towards something useful. Fair enough on a track car where you will change pads often and clean it up, but for a road car getting a twelve month service it's unacceptable, especially considering the price of the replacement discs

yu forget its not your average road car but a limited production special, so IMO its not outrageous to expect someone to service the brakes annually for such a specialist car. Cheaper discs have been available for years, and again you wont be changing discs regularly anyway.

I've had mine a year and a half, and totaly love it. Will never sell it
I wouldnt use it as an everyday car due to the costs of service and the rareness of the parts. Stone chips are very common, and even after only about 200 miles since a respray the stonechips have started to reappear. The wings and sills rust like its going out of fashion.
It's nice to see people respect them, lots of people dismiss them due to the stats which do not do them justice!

It was originally meant to have a turbo, but budget cuts meant going for a N/A option. I think it may have been done, but some have had FRS engines. But as they are so rare, just leave them alone. The engine is fantastic for what it is.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
My chairman of our local Rsoc group has one that he bought new from ford, lives in a bubble and only gets used on to go for an mot once a year and very special occasions , seems a waste of such a capable car but it is factory fresh so you gotta hand it to him for that , would love to tear round knockhill in it tho !
