Default Advice needed please

Had a strange one tonight as i was leaving work, went to start the car and all i got was the starter spinning and not engaging.Got it going eventually after rocking it back and forth for a wee while.Made it home and stopped the engine but i thought i'd give it a go again,it started but shuddered about a fair bit until i pressed the clutch and it then cleared.

It still drives fine and i've been out again to pick the wife up with no problems.

Could it be just a dodgy starter or is it the dreaded dual mass flywheel? It's a 2004 Mondeo zetec s TDCI

Any help much appreciated.

common fault...the starter motor has fooked the ring gear on the flywheel mate...You can buy the lot as a kit.

Sounds like it,just went out and it starts and drives fine again now.

Just wonder how long it will last now.I'll just have to tax the 16i and get it back out until i get it sorted.Would rather just do it now than have to get recovered of the side of the road
