I'll have to get the mrs to look up the torque as I've not seen the graph properly yet, think it was under 150 though.
The first pull it only made under 165bhp, you have to run them a few times to get the intake cool as it will always be hot when you first run them up due to being wrapped over the top of the engine.
Yeah if we see a genuine 10bhp more I'll be happy with that.

Really well still mate, no issues at all yet
He did about 10 sessions at bedford when we went a few weeks ago and the only thing that went wrong was his throttle cable was frayed and stuck a bit, but he changed that at lunchtime and its been fine since.
He even towed a lad we know with a throttle bodied fiesta home after his crank sensor packed up.
Gearbox HAS to let go soon i would think, but the engine itself seems perfectly happy

its good to hear that, if i had my time again think i would of charged mine, trying to convince a mate who owns the car now to do it. and buy a diff as its already doing number 1,s all the way round combe.

Diffs are quite expensive for these cars and there is the very real risk the chocolate gearbox will kill the diff too when it dies.
They med it performance wise but it's hard to justify the cost.
Was looking at a sadev earlier at 5k euros but then realised how silly that wold be for my mk1 worth about ten quid!
Made that mistake with 1Ok of engine in ten quid of nova, lol

yea my mate borrowed his works clio cup one day this year at combe, said it was so cool being able to shift bid bend and the car car staying flat as a button, but scary being in a left hooker,

I'd love a go in a proper spec one with a decent gearbox.
The mrs cracked on today and hers is rs2'd now.
Waiting on a couple of bits stone automotive were out of stock of for the coilpack mount but she got the rest done.
Must say I wouldn't have bothered in the bad weather but she chucked a tarp up as she couldnt get in the garages as my cars were in there.
Dedication that is, lol

I think our first outing with it is going to be 25th of feb at bedford for the RS day there
Yesterday Lesley nicked my mapping gear and put a map on it that Mike from MWM and Kenny from Evolution chips have developed for working with these manifolds.
Drives really well now, its goes just a little bit too rich at 5-5.5K and you can feel the torque just drop slightly as this happens, so the map will need a slight tweak there, but is amazingly close in the most part.
Hopefully will get it onto the same rollers again in the next few weeks to get an after figure out of it to see how it compares to the 169bhp it started with (with matched inlets, so will be only a few bhp at most different to a standard car probably as we've discussed so going to treat that as the starting point even though thats very slightly unfair on the RS2)
From how it drives im going to be amazed if it doesnt make at least the 10bhp that we were originally hoping for but you never can tell till you get on the rollers as things like the change in engine note can mislead.

i got 8-12 in mind, but it will transform the drivabilty of the car, so it will feel alot better than what the rollers say. i hope to be coming up to bedford for a watch if the weather looks good,

You can just about see a very very small bit of the track from the briefing room, and there is a bit of the track you can see in the pits.
You are only allowed in the pits if you are driving or passengering.
Personally I wouldnt ever go there to watch, its just not geared up for it.
Not sure yet when it will get on the rollers, the mrs is off work on wednesday so that might be an option, if not then probably be a few weeks.

So will be a few weeks now I expect before she gets another chance to go once I have changed the pump for her.

Weirdly on the mk1 clios is quite common for the power steering pump to pack up and yet almost unheard of for it to cause any other problem, and they look very similar pumps etc.

Just thought I'd update this with a before and after graph for the manifold, still not had ours done yet, but a mate of mine has also fitted one and he had a better before in that it was from a bog standard engine before not matched inlets etc like ours.
This is the standard car, versus an RS2 inlet, a remap, and a decent exhaust and decat:

We're over the moon with it mate
I dont think ours (136k miles proper abused example) is making anything like that power, probably more like 180, but it does still pull very nicely right through the rev range and is still pulling hard at the new 7500rpm limiter, which it didnt do before the new inlet, its really transformed it

There is NO justifying that on a car that costs the same amount in the first place for the whole car TBH
We like how it drives now, and the mrs loves how nice the bay looks now etc, but the only "smart" way to enjoy these cars from a financial viewpoint is to leave them standard engine wise and just enjoy how good they are out of the box.

yea got to agree there, wish i had not chucked loads of dosh at mine really, just a cheap track car he says, 4k later, wtf did i do that for, better sell it for 1500 squid, when will i learn.

^What Lee said. it's basically what it was intended for. But Chip's right as well with the Ph1 if that's all the budget allows and purely for track. Very expensive to get power out of as they're pretty well specced as standard. Any decent power involves throttle bodies or chargers. Brembo discs and Ferodo pads seem to be the most popular brake choice with decent coilovers and a Whiteline ARB. If money no object then a new 200 Cup.
For a stripped out purely track car its going to make zero difference in weight choosing between a Cup and a ph1. Just down to which look someone prefers.
As for the aircon on the ph1, shove a 8v non ac Laguna alternator bracket and Cup alternator on all for about 130 sheets.

Especially when you then cant home map it after etc.
If you want to DIY it, aftermarket and a set of bike bodies would be a better option I'd think.

Yeah she gets quite good results, but it does get a bit repetitive this happening every few weeks:
before
supa snow foam time!
and rinse off...
while i was waiting for her to dry i tackled the engine bay as we've just changed the inlet.
used stardrops apc and AG engine cleaner, lots of time and it ended up like this. still not happy tho, needs another go with a very small brush to get in all the little annoying bits.
some afters of the car all clean and shiny again :thumb:
