Ecu

Bought an ecu off ebay and fitted it this morning. Car seemed to be fine when i test drove it but took it out again and it died and problem came back.

Does an ECU have to reprogram itself by you driving the car? I read somthing in the haynes manual about this. Anyone else had this problem?
