Default Rear Callipers Question

If the calliper has no fluid in, will the handbrake mechanism still work efficiently?

Or if the callipers was filled with fluid and then sealed would it still work ok?

Looking for options of getting round the hydraulic handbrake.

think that the reason they have a lever in the rear calipers, so it works independent from the fluid brakes.

But I think the hydraulic workings ensure that as the pads wear the piston is pushed out.

If there was no hydraulic action, then there would be no automatic adjustment for wear.
