Hi guys, ive been asked to sort my mums remote central locking out on her 04 c max, it is being intermitant when it wants to work, ive checked and clean the battery and remote contacts but still only works when it wants from a varying range of distance so i dont think its the remote itself, so have has anyone got any ideas on what else it could be ? any advice would be greatfull as i dont really want to take it to ford and get stitched

as ive said mate ive checked the battery and its good, and the fact it operates at over 20ft away though double glazing it cant be that battery.

Sounds like it could be a remote fault. We have a transmitter tester at the dealership i work at to test them. Had a Mondeo in last week with the same fault. If the battery is all good then remote is next thing to test. Hope this helps.

 

if it's anything like the mondeo's, the actual central locking unit may be playing up, in the drivers door and the whole unit needs replacing

if you can get one form ebay it's all good as it's just fiddly rather than difficult to change

but try the remote first as you won't have to have the car in bits to test that
