Young people and fast cars, and insurance
Like who is the youngest cossie owner?
Anybody have a fast car before they could drive on the road etc?
Im only 16, 17 in 2 weeks but sofar i have had 10 cars, including a 2.8i capri, not that quick but loads of fun and a xr4i. Just wondered
Also what is the most you have paid for insurance?

Had an XR3i at 18 which was a killer on insurance nevermind a cossie! 1500pounds tp only as it was first policy! (paid less for the car!) Had a cossie at 23 which was 1200pounds tpft, first policy again as the 3i ony lasted 7 weeks before the engine was destroyed. Now have a Lexus at 24 and paying 200pounds fully comp.
No there isnt a typo or any false information in the above statement

bought my sapph 4x4 when I was 19.
first quote I got was around Ł13-14000 punds.
now I pay Ł5-600 a year. (20 years old)
insurance system in norway is different though... we insure the car not the driver.

I am 17 and got quoted last month Ł2600 for a standard rs turbo with only an exaust and dump valve on my own policy (3rd party) which i very nearly bought, but yes, I will be happy to pay that kind of money for the car Ive wanted since I was 5 years old. My ex of a year and a half got his evo 5 when he was 18 but insured a nova on a "any other car 3rd party" policy which allowed him to drive the evo, quite a good idea really as hes now 20 and still doing it
Even though I was only 16 I used to get to drive it out back roads and shit which was cool, not many people learn in a shiney white evo!

im after getting a cossy by the time im 21 but an 1985 audi quattro ur with a 2.2 5cyl turbocharged engine is just a bit more tempting specially with a quote of Ł1543,

I have owned 6 s1, 4 s2 by the time i was 22 then got a escort cossy and still have it.
I worked very hard, became the boss and by the time i was 21 was taking home very good money.
I have paid up to 2800 to insure my s1 at 18 ,lots of mods though. mind you it was 7 years ago.

it isn't. the evo would have to be previously insured by someone else to do this

20K+ Super Poster.
1st car (i was 18... took me a year to pass my test ) was an XR3i
i paid THREE THOUSAND POUNDS to insure that third party only
stupid? FUCK YES
my next car (whilst i was still 18) was a 2.9L twin turbo XR4x4
i didn't actually tell the truth to the insurance company as it was costing an arm and aleg to insure it as a STANDARD car
now i'm 21 and ive got a saph cossie replica and that costs me 1k a year to insure
my advice (having done it) is to NOT get a high insrance group car for at least the 1st year youre driving... its just NOT worth it.

called HIC Today to get a quote for a saph cossie im wanting..
they said
HIC WONT insure you on a cossie unless you
Are over 22
have more than 2 years NCB
Have 1 year or more experience driving a cossie. !!
FFS.
other companies didnt want to know if i said it had 17" wheels.
so god knows what they will say when i mention 300+ bhp..
will try a few more tomorrow, but things aint lookin so hot.
unless its a completely standard cossie, then i can get insured for 850.
(im 24 BTW with 5 years NCB and no points or anything)
