Tyre Advice...
Came apparent after I almost smashed my car up in a lane last week when someone decided it would be a good idea to overtake in torrential rain that the mix of P6000's ont he front and budgets on the back are crap.
Thing is theres pleanty of tread on the lot, seems a waste to get rid.
But saftey first. My Focus uses 195/60 R15. I would LOVE to have Uniroyal Rainsport 2's but I'd have to drop to a 50 profile.
How bad would the speedo overead on a 50 profile?
How stupid will my Focus look on 50 profile tyres? Or do you think it would be worth it for the extra grip and stability?
Or is there any other tyre someone can suggest thats sub £70 and comes in my size?
Cheers, Bailes.

You're not having much luck are you?!
I see the torment you're suffering with your poor MPG, the atrocious Focus seat design and now the mis-matched/budget tyres... the best thing for you to do now is to chop the Focus in for £20,000 worth of brand new, heavily spec'd up Vauxhall Astra 1.3 Diesel.
Cheers,
Grant

Do you fancy michelins?.
Michelin energy on 195/60/15 are about £66 each inc vat and fitting at Costco.
Well worth the £12 per year fee for personal membership.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
You should be able to get something from a reasonable manufacturer like Kumho/Falken for sensible money at a local place.
Don't go down a profile on standard wheels! A tyre place i used ordered the wrong size tyres for me once, mine were shagged by this time so i just took them. They wore out in half the time of the last set and the car handled shockingly on them.
Some effects of running smaller tyres are that the suspension can go soft as the dampers get too hot by working overtime with the extra roll induced.
Sell the ones you have on ebay if you have enough tread on them once you've got a new set.

Uniroyal Rainsports are shat!!! Don't put them within half a mile of your car IMO. I've tried loads of different brands and have settled on Continental ContiSport Contacts, grip very well in all weathers and wear well too. Agreed they are not the cheapest but at what price do you put safety?
