Not done a core plug in years but when i used to race/rally Minis in the 80s i had a few pop out or leak. One of the more experienced rally lads told me to put them in with a bit of epoxy resin on them to seal them and keep them from popping out. I used araldite , the glue stuff that comes in two tubes and you mix it together. now i am not saying this is the correct thing to do but i never had one leak or pop out after i had done it .
