What ever you do/map the last place it needs to be checked/tweaked/mapped has to be the road/track as this is where it is driven.

I remember when i first bought my Cosworth i was very cautious about what state of tune was safe and reliable as the general chat about RS's is they just blow up so you can't blame the questions.

Once he speaks to a decent company he will soon understand a well tuned YB can be both reliable and quick.

fo sho, and the car manufacturers also do that as the final tweaks to driveability etc are best done in that way.

Yeah that amazed me when I got up here.
I stay in Aberdeen and in asda carpark alone tonight I've seen a mint escos,Renault 5GT turbo, loads of evo's,scoobies pimped up motors etc.,you'd think there would be a huge market.
Probably too many rich oil types driving their lambos and ferraris who just swap them for new ones when they want more power!

As for the rod statement that's pretty bang on,not sure what his problem is lately but he seems to slate anyone who wants to do what he "wrote" a book about,I.e tune up a "normal" car to get better performance out of it.
Ok he went a fair bit further than most with his.
Did you know it did over 200mph?
I think it's been mentioned once or twice.

Now im more confused than scooby doo....So when a cars mapped on the rollers it has to be tweaked on the road...So...A live mapping session on the road in the first place is surly about better drive ability as well as the power right..?....

Doing on a RR confirms your power so you know you are in the ball park of where it should be,
When I live map on the road the car is not adjusted when doing a power run unless they is something a miss.

Matt. It's easier to do the bulk of the mapping on a dyno but it should always be road tested after to check it's usability on the road and any final adjustments can be made to the map.

Yes i get that bit Mark....But i allways thought the idea of a proper live mapped car was that the map on the car got changed and adjusted under real condition`s in real time...like wind..drag downforce and other things and the map adjusted to suit the car and to get the best drive abillity from that...So my qestion is can you get the same drive abilty and smoothness on the rollers as you can on road/track.

really intesresting this because ive only ever had my cars set up on the road.

sorry for all the Q`s....Cheers Mat.

With experiance and a simple engine like a YB once you have done the hard work doing the main set up work and not changing the spec to some thing diff, Then 99% of the time you wont need the RR and to make it better by using a RR is slim,
I have a RR next door to me so I can check any car very easily and I didnt need to spend the 60k to buy it.

End of the day RR is good for base mapping but doesn't mimic real world scenarios unless you have an f1 style wind tunnel LOL

All i can suggest is save uo a bit of money cause where ever it goea to get done it might need more paets to get the engine to run right.

I heard of loads of people getting there cars mapded and then saying how better there cars were after.
Well i got my cossie done a few weeks back now and its like a different car.Its quick and 100% reliable.

To be fair michael anyone who bought their own dyno when there is one next door would have to need their head examined esp if mark has a decent working relationship with them.
