Was just wondering about the brake upgrade in fast ford this month, they use mondeo calipers and ST170 discs on a zetec s just wondering why they use mondeo calipers and not ST170 ones? Are the mondeo ones bigger? Im thinking of ugrading the brakes on my 1.8 focus but wondering is it better to go for ST170 discs and calipers or is there an advantage to using the MK3 mondeo caliper?

you can use either calliper but you'll find it easier and probably cheaper to source the mondeo callipers due to them being on every mk3 mondeo so the shit loads about.

on the focus you WILL need to fit st170 hubs/knuckles aswell.

Ah right so which ever ones I go for I need st170 hubs? Both the same but easier to get hold of off a mondeo mk3?

not the same as mondeo hubs.

you will need st170 knuckles, st170 discs and either st170 callipers and pads or mondeo mk3 callipers and pads.

ps, hub nuts are done up to 316NM!!! :shock:

pps, its a very good conversion for the money. i've done it to my 2l mk1 focus ad its transformed the braking. next i'll get some decent discs and pads and transform it again!!

the mondeo calipers were fitted to every mk3 mondeo which is why you can now pick them up for as little as £20 a pop

you may be able to fit the mk3 mondeo hubs to the focus, or at least a mk1/2 mondeo hub

Cool mate thanks so just the st170 knuckles and discs and mondeo calipers and pads and im done, no need for st170 hubs? Thanks for your advice mate i'll give it a try!
P.S. How much can you pick up st170 knuckles for and where can you get them from?
