how do i check a drain from the battery....

did you actually read this, its all there, if an isolator doesnt work just remove it for test purposes, you can tell if it works by checking voltage on isolator conections aswell when its switched off.

I'm sure the tester just needs resetting or I'm not doing it right as the cut off works because when t gets connected the alarm goes nuts

i carnt see why you would need to reset the tester lol if when you switch it on its reading 0 then when you put it round the negative cable it reads 1.9 then its reading 1.9 (you are doing it with every thing switched off arnt you) and as said before what amp hour is your battery because you can work out how long it will take that 1.9 to drain your battery as 1.9 isent raelly much if your battery has a high amp hour rateing!
