Default rear coil spring orientation?

for my s2 erst, the rear onboard springs dont have any visible markings on them to say which way up they shud be fitted, so is it an issue which way up i put them in the trailing arms?

it wouldnt be so bad if they were symetrical in design, but 1 end is quite tightly wound, then the coils are much wider at the other. so shud the tighter coils be at the top or the bottom, or doesnt it matter?

standard practice to put the close windings at the bottom
but in reality it shouldn't make any difference
